Ford introduced the EcoSport as a B-segment crossover for global markets. Available in the UK and Europe from 2014, it was built it on the 2011 Fiesta platform but was adapted to look like an SUV. Originally launched with Fords' 3 Cylinder 1.0 Litre, Turbo Charged, EcoBoost power plant, which in 2017, was awarded, International Engine of the Year award in the “Best Engine Under 1.0-litre” Class, for the sixth year in a row – meaning the compact and powerful three-cylinder petrol engine remains undefeated in its category since launch in 2012. Fiesta owners will be familiar with the interior layout and appreciative of the ease in which you can get in and out, thanks to its elevated ride height. Since launch a 1.5 TDCi Diesel option has become available, all ECOBOOST powertrains are coupled to a 6 speed manual gearbox, the Diesel a 5 speed. Initially UK sales were slow, but the word soon spread, which saw sales numbers increase and whilst Ford no longer make the Ecosport, demand for this Mini SUV remains high.
